Take Control of Your Physical and Spiritual Fitness and Wellness
The Empowerment Tool
I'm a bit late to the game, but I've just found a new best friend - my Fitbit.
Fitbit has been around for years—15 years according to Google. Now, I'm not particularly into workouts and fitness, so I didn't see it as something that I needed until I recently read an article that said that it had the ability to collect sleep data, not just the basic stuff, but detailed reports and analysis, especially if you subscribe to their premium option.
Well, I immediately reached out to the sleep experts that I know to see which was the best Fitbit to purchase.
There are quite a few on the market, and I opted for the Fitbit Charge 5 as it was highly recommended by sleep consultants within hospital sleep units due to its data collection features.
It's been three weeks, and each day I wake up excited, not only to get my sleep report, which shows me how many hours I slept and the numerous periods that I awoke during the night, but it also shows me the exact time that I woke up, which seems to be around the 3-4am mark.
I also get a report showing my heart rate during those periods and my restoration rates during the night. I'm now beginning to understand why I wake up most mornings feeling as though I haven't slept.
Not only that, but I maintain and monitor basic health stats like how much walking I'm doing now and my stress levels throughout the day.
Whilst I'm not doing workouts yet, I am more than pleased with my investment, and I'm sure that should I start working out, I'll be just as impressed.
There's an interesting article if you're interested in the sleep information that it can provide. In the article Zahra used the Charge 5 and recorded how it impacted her sleep and what she learnt from the experience :
