Too Many Dreams to Remember
The Different Types of Dreams and Activities in the Sleep State
Sleeping. It’s one of those actions that’s taken to for granted by most people. For the vast majority, they go to sleep in one moment and then wake up from what seems to have been a period of timelessness, feeling refreshed and rejuvenated with no recollection of events that took place during the sleeping hours.
There are, however, a minority for whom sleep and dreams hold extreme significance in their lives. To the extent that sleep becomes at best an endless journey of activity and at worst an event to be feared.
What we do know is that during the sleeping process several things take place that is for our unique benefit. They are listed below as different types of dreams.
Prophetic Dreams:
These are dreams that highlight future events for either you, persons you're close to or the wider society. The dream may not specifically reveal the details as one would want to see them. Metaphors and symbols are sometimes used throughout these dreams to represent different things. It's almost as though symbols and signs are being used as a language that you need to interpret.
Astral Travel Dreams:
When you are sleeping, your spirit/ethereal body/nonphysical body/astral body/soul (whichever term you prefer) leaves the physical body and in this state, you're able to move around free and unfettered by the physical body as free-flowing energy. Being aware that you are doing this is referred to as Astral Travel.
You're able to float and direct your body anywhere. You're also capable of instantaneous movement and can sometimes recall the events that took place whilst you were in your astral body when you awaken.
For some, they're able to consciously direct their movement or where they go. In this state, some people travel to visit friends and family, and loved ones who have transitioned. Some people even visit other planes of existence and planets. There are many possibilities when you can astral travel.
Everyday Balancing or Release Dreams:
These allow us to release energy and reconcile events that have taken place in our waking state. It's not uncommon for this state to be used to work out plans that are related to your everyday functions. This state is also used to reconcile negative energy that may have built up.
Healing Activity:
Physical and emotional healing takes place whilst you sleep, which also contributes to the rejuvenated feeling when you awaken. Your body can also be worked on by spiritual guides or energetic beings, if you specifically ask for healing to take place whilst you sleep.
Wish dreams:
This is another type of dream. These represent the things that you wish for. It's actually quite positive to dream about something that you've wished for as this means that you have taken that thing and made it part of your energy field. You believe that it's possible, it, therefore, shows up in your dreams.
Lucid Dreams:
Lucid dreaming happens when you're aware that you're dreaming whilst you're dreaming. For some, they're able to guide their dreams in this state and go wherever they wish to and do whatever they want with whomever they wish, because they're aware that they're dreaming and that they have the ability to lucid dream.
Dream Loops:
This experience is when you wake up thinking that you're awake, only to find that you're still sleeping and that you never really woke up. It's a surreal experience, as a loop can happen several times until you finally wake up.
Mundane Dreams:
I don’t really know what to call these dreams so I’ve used the term ‘Mundane”. This represents the dreams where mundane activities are played out. You live a normal day, talking to friends, washing the dishes, shopping etc and then you either wake up (completely confused) or you can experience a loop.
I always encourage journaling your dreams and as you record them, you can begin to notice a pattern developing. Even those dreams that seem nonsensical to you have a deeper meaning. Lately, I’ve noticed that I engage in each of the dreams types listed above in a single night, as I go from one scenario to another. Days can be played out, whilst I sleep which I believe are real, with added loops that make them confusing.
Is it any wonder that some of us wake up tired having slept all night?
What types of dreams do you have? What can you recall from your dreams?
As we continue to learn more about ourselves and what it means to be energy within a human body, I wish you healing love and light on your journey.

P.S I’m still looking for a few more persons to interview about their sleep paralysis experiences. In the next post, I’ll share my initial findings. If you’re interested in taking part send me an email - info@sheilaprycebrooks.com
