MEDITATION: The No.1 Health and Spiritual Practice
Including how to meditate
Whether you’re looking for a deeper spiritual connection with your higher self or with those in the spiritual realm, seeking to relax and quiet your mind or have an ailment that you would like to heal, meditation should be included as one of your practices.
For anyone who is either on a spiritual journey, experiencing sleep paralysis or another paranormal phenomenon, meditation facilitates letting go of the astral body and allows for non-physical engagement with the spiritual realm. By meditating, you increase your vibration, release resistance and open the door for communication. For those of you who are health-conscious, it helps your physical body to slow down, encouraging healing as well as the connection to spirit, which has immense healing properties. It leaves you with a sense of peace that continues to work even when you have finished meditating.
It has been used for thousands of years and many cultures throughout the world use it to enhance their quality of life. People who meditate regularly have a lower level of stress, increased awareness with stronger intuition and other psychic abilities.
Meditation can be practised by anyone and meditators span from beginners to advanced of all ages. There are many ways to meditate. Some require specific postures and hand positions, some require a mantra or sound to be repeated, some are guided by another person, some take place in a group setting whilst others can be practised privately.
The way that you choose to meditate doesn’t matter. Each method achieves the same outcome. I prefer to use guided meditation, which is an audio recording on my phone. Whatever method helps you relax the most will help you achieve optimal results. There is no right or wrong approach to meditating.
How to Meditate
It’s advisable to develop a meditation routine that you can do each day. First thing in the morning, before your day (and thoughts) pick up speed is preferred and aim to spend 10-15 minutes each morning on your meditation practice.
Pick a spot in your home that is relaxing to you. You can sit on the ground, on a cushion, on a chair, on a sofa, or even on your bed. You can also sit in nature if you like.
Try to sit with your spine straight and your hands relaxed in your lap. If you are in a chair, sit with your feet planted firmly on the ground, knees and ankles uncrossed.
Close your eyes. Imagine a sense of calm. Breathe in the calm that you have just created slowly and consciously. Hold your breath for a few extra seconds before exhaling slowly and deliberately.
Focus on your breathing. Continue inhaling and exhaling for 10 minutes.
If you are using a guided meditation, repeat steps 1-5 above with the recording playing in the background.
If your mind wanders during meditation, simply notice that it has wandered and bring it back to the meditative state where you are focused on your breathing. Repeat this as many times as needed.
I have used the same guided meditation for over 4 years and it works as well now as it did 4 years ago. It was the main tool that helped with the development of my spiritual abilities and it reduced the number of sleep paralysis attacks that I would have.

I also have a great guided meditation that helps you to meet your spirit guides. I’ll be sharing it with you in another newsletter.
Let me know how your meditation goes. Do you use a guided meditation recording that you could share with the community? Or perhaps you have a special meditative practice that you could share?
Don’t forget that I’m doing a Q and A at the end of the month, so post any questions that you may have as a comment or email me at info@sheilapryebrooks.com.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Hi Sheila, I have been struggling to accept this situation I am in. Let me start by explaining my background. I have been meditating and studying with different spiritual teachers in different countries for around 15 years in a more structured capacity. I have been fortunate to be around very inspiring and highly realised beings both physical and non-physical. I guess also I am probably more self-aware and self-reflective than most. I am currently studying in the UK and my fellow classmates are good hearted people but I find myself the odd one out, as I witness their habits and lack of self-awareness so clearly that it is painful to see and although I get along with them in the classroom. I don't want to socialise with them as their behaviours and attitudes seem so idiotic and causing so much suffering for them. How do you deal with people that are not spiritual but you have to work with them? This sounds so terrible, doesn't it, but this is what's happening.
